Record Types are used to group similar types of applications, within a Category. Using Building Department as an example, you would have Record Types for Building, Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing permits. Record Types have their own settings, form, documents, and workflows
Workflows are the specific type of application. So under the Building Record Type, you may have workflows called Residential New Construction, Commercial New Construction, Renovation, Addition, etc. Workflows use the same Form in their Record Type, but they each have their own steps for the application process, such as various department reviews/approvals, fees, inspections, and permit issuance.
How do they all relate on the website?
When an applicant is navigating your ViewPoint Cloud site, they'll choose a Category, then a Record Type, and finally a Workflow to start their application.
